Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 : Marketing List

One of the most important thing in the CRM is to identify your different leads. To help the user for this job, you have to use the Marketing List.
Sales and Marketing user can use this functionnality to segment the lead/contact/account base.
Note: In Microsoft Dynamics CRM, you can choose only between leads / contacts / accounts for the marketing list.
To create a new marketing list, go to “Marketing / Marketing Lists” :

Marketing list 1

Click on the “New” button :

For this first example, I choose “Leads” and Static type. The picklist  “List type” only contains : Lead / Contact / Account.
The difference between static and dynamics list :
  • Static : User has to manually change the member of the list using the advanced find query, add specific member one bu one or delete query (It’s a member deletion and not a lead deletion)
  • Dynamic : The user has to build one global query. When a lead/contact/account lose a criteria, it will automatically disappear from the marketing list.

Once your marketing list is created, you can not change the Target of the list. I have to add new members to my new static marketing list.
Click on “Add” button :

To add new members, you have two choices :
  • Add using lookup : Use this option if you want to add specific members
  • Add using advanced find : Use this options if you want to add a list of members based on advanced find (Note: You have the option available in the result interface : Add one by one or the complete list)
To remove members :
  • Remove using Advanced find: All the members returned by the query will be delete from the list
To evaluate (manage) members:
  • Evaluate using Advanced Find: Keep the members returned by your query. All the other members will be deleted from the list

In this example, I use the Advanced find option:

The Advanced find menu opened. If you want some help with the advanced find functionnality : click here.

Once you finished to add your criteria, click on “Find”. A list of potential member appeared :

You can choose to add only a part of this lead (First option) or import all the list from the query (Second option). Here I choose to add all the members returned by the search.

Now, your marketing List is completed ! If you want top update it, you have to do it manually. Let’s see now how to use the dynamic marketing list.
Just create a new marketing list but you choose the Dynamics type. Click on the add Member button:

Marketing list 1- dynamics

You have to use directly the advanced find functionnality. But when you have finished your query, it will add automatically in the marketing list all the members returned by the query.
Each time a new lead correspond to the criteria you put in your query, it will add this lead to your marketing list. You can change the criteria of your query when you want.
